Leatherman Kick Pocket Tool – An Interesting Choice That’s Low In Weight But Still Equipped With Useful Tools

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Leatherman

The Leatherman Kick is an appealing tool – a smidgen tinier than the original PST, but at a fraction of the weight.

The Leatherman Kick is the smallest of a range of 3  multi tools produced by Leatherman, the alternative’s are the Fuse together with the Blast.

Leatherman Kick – Lighter In Weight

The Leatherman Kick benefits from plastic inlayed into the handle scales which means it is considerably more comfortable to hold than the previous PST and PST II models. The Leatherman Kick is a much welcomed addition, as people who have purchased and used a PST will agree with!  The plier head has been updated to mazimise strength without increasing the pocket tool’s size or shape, and seems to have worked nicely- they are a little odd to look at for those that are used to other tools, nonetheless this is a tool, not a fashion parade, and they do the job.

The Leatherman Kick also benefits from a phillips screwdriver, can/bottle opener, 2 flathead screwdrivers, and a clip- point knife.  The tool assortment may be bare on this one, although remember, it is the smallest of a series of products.  The upside is that the tools (particularly the screwdrivers) seem to be slightly better than other multi’s – the shafts are a little longer, giving slightly more versatility than usual, and a better chance at hard to reach screws.  It’s a minor factor, but it really does add up – to a lot when it’s the one tool you have with you and the screw is buried inside of something.

Leatherman Kick – Includes an Extended Screwdriver

There is no doubt about it, the Kick is a well thought out tool, but it does have it’s drawbacks.  Due to it’s light weight, the Kick feels inadequate.  As it is supported by Leatherman’s 25 year guarantee, it is very well made, however compared to many other tools both larger and smaller in size, it doesn’t feel to be quite as robust.  Also, it may come across as a little small to those with big hands.

Most importantly, even with the lack of numerous tools on the Kick, it does suffer from Leatherman’s infamous problem, tool clumping.  How can it be, that a handle with as few as three tools built in, all pull out every time you try to get only one?  With each new generation of tools, this problem should be a distant memory.

The Leatherman Kick is a decent tool at a good price, but not an option for a heavy user or a bigger person.  I would say it is better suited as a small tool for a lady’s handbag or as a young persons first tool.  It could be regarded as a “cute” tool for those folks that don’f often need tools although like to be prepared.

How the Welsh love their takeaways

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Although an English man in every sense of the word, i must confess to a liking for the Welsh and Wales as a country to visit. I love the scenic routes when travelling up to the north to meet friends who live in Angelsey. The people are passionate and on the whole friendly towards me – an outsider, providing some of the finest cuisines available in the UK. As a result of reading a blog post on a big online takeaway company, I was quite shocked.

It seems difficult to understand, but it would appear that the Welsh are the most likely customers of takeaway food in the whole of the UK. If you want to spend your weekend breaks in Wales, you could follow the lead of many of the other members of the population and get a takeaway. Obviously this could be difficult if you have chosen to stay in one of the may holiday cottages in Wales, and decide to spend you time in a place that is far from civilisation.

According to figures released by online takeaway giants Just-Eat, there has been a massive increase in the welsh ordering takeaway food online. The biggest consumer base is in the capital Cardiff, where enthusiastic surfers have been enjoying the online service from their local takeaways.

David Buttress, MD who was born in Cardiff said, “It is good to see my fellow countrymen embracing the online ordering process and enjoying the unusual things to do in Wales. The growth in sales in South Wales and particularly Cardiff is satisfying to see, especially as I am from the area.”

One takeaway company feeling the growth, is City Pizza on City Road in Cardiff. The owner of City Pizza, Mr Kakay said; “I am inpressed by the orders that have come from Just Eat. I joined the service in 2006 but recently, the online side to my business has gone through the roof. I am pleased that I joined the Internet online service. It is very easy for our custromers, which makes life easy for me.”
